The advanced ID settings window lets you define the following things.

_________________________________________________________________________

FILE TYPE
_________________________________________________________________________

A Ducks data file is either a primary data file (like MAIN.EGG) or a secondary data file (like, for example, XMAS2000.EGG).

Primary data files need to contain all of the information required for the Ducks program to run. It should be possible to run the Ducks engine with any primary EGG as the sole data file. One - and ONLY one - primary data file must be loaded into the Ducks engine at once, and this file must be the first data file loaded.

Secondary data files need only an "ID - episode index" slice and a page of startup text. Everything else is optional. Secondary data files are used to add extra data (or to replace existing data) to Ducks without the need to create a new primary data file, containing duplicated information.

_________________________________________________________________________

ROLLING DEMOS
_________________________________________________________________________

Set the number of rolling demos contained within the data file here. The engine will look for demo slices within the file, starting with R_0000, up to R_(N-1) where N is the number of rolling demos as defined in this window. For example, if the number is set to 3, Ducks will (randomly) try and play back demos R_0000, R_0001 and R_0002.

_________________________________________________________________________

GAME COMPATIBILITY
_________________________________________________________________________

Here you can select with which versions of the Ducks engine the loaded data file will be compatible.

See the help topic "ID - Compatibility combinations" for which choices are allowed, depending on the other selections made in this window.

_________________________________________________________________________

OBJECT DEFINITION COMPATIBILITY
_________________________________________________________________________

If the loaded data file contains episodes or rolling demos, choose here the appropriate setting.

"Data file uses only original object definitions" - Select this if the EGG contains no object definition slice, or if the object definitions defined within the data file are COMPLETELY COMPATIBLE with the definitions found in the MAIN.EGG data file.

"Data file adds to original object definitions" - Select this if the EGG contains object definitions which start with the original objects (or completely compatible) and then add extra objects. For example, Xmas Ducks 2000 adds the SNOWMAN, CLOSING PRESENT and LOVELY XMAS LIGHTS IN THE SHAPE OF SANTA objects.

"Data file redefines original object definitions" - Select this if the EGG contains object definitions which do not start with the originals. Any changes to the objects which do or even could affect gameplay should mean that this option is selected - even if your changes are only making the effective width of the spike one pixel wider or making the flying saucer fall more rapidly.

Again, see the help topic "ID - Compatibility combinations" for which choices are allowed, depending on the other selections made in this window.
